HR Business Partner Director

Milwaukee, WI | Hybrid (3–4 Days Onsite)

This is not a traditional HR Business Partner role.

We are partnering with a growing, technology-enabled organization seeking a senior HR leader who can sit alongside business and Technology executives and help determine what the organization needs to become next.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will serve as a senior talent and organizational advisor—translating business strategy into workforce, organizational, leadership, and talent priorities that improve productivity, strengthen organizational capability, and support profitable growth.

The opportunity is particularly compelling for an HRBP who enjoys working at the intersection of business strategy, people, data, AI, and technology—but who also wants to remain close enough to the work to help execute the strategy they create.

What You'll Be Asked to Do

You will partner closely with senior business and Technology leaders to understand where the organization is going, identify the workforce and organizational implications, and build the strategies necessary to get there.

That includes:

  • Building and executing integrated workforce, organizational, leadership, and talent strategies tied directly to business priorities.
  • Advising senior leaders on organizational design, workforce capability, succession, talent density, productivity, and how work should evolve.
  • Working across HR Centers of Excellence—including Talent, Total Rewards, Learning & Development, People Analytics, HR Technology, and others—to turn business needs into coordinated people solutions.
  • Using workforce insights, business data, technology, and emerging AI capabilities to improve decisions and organizational performance.
  • Bringing a clear point of view, including the managerial courage to challenge assumptions and influence senior leaders when the business or organization requires a different approach.
  • Staying involved through execution—defining outcomes, measuring progress, adjusting the strategy, and ensuring the work produces meaningful business results.

The formal role description specifically calls for this leader to help shape how work evolves through people, AI and technology, while strengthening leadership, increasing talent density, and improving business performance.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in someone who has already operated as a strategic HR Business Partner, not simply someone who has led HR programs or operations.

You should be able to talk specifically about:

  • Serving as the primary HRBP to VP, SVP, C-suite, or comparable senior leaders, with ownership of the people and organizational strategy for a business or function.
  • Directly supporting a Technology, Engineering, Product, Digital, Data/Analytics, IT, or closely related technical organization.
  • Building and executing workforce strategies—including organizational design, workforce planning, capability development, succession, restructuring, or future workforce needs.
  • Operating effectively within a COE-based HR model, knowing when to lead directly and when to bring together specialized HR resources to solve a business problem.
  • Influencing executives through business acumen, data, judgment, and managerial courage—including situations where you've challenged a leader or recommended a different direction.
  • Defining the intended outcome of your work and demonstrating how you measured whether the strategy actually improved the business or organization.

A bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Technology, or a related field is required.

What’s In It for You

This is an opportunity to move beyond being an HR advisor who is brought in after a business decision has already been made.

You'll have a seat on the Senior Leadership Team and the opportunity to influence decisions about how the organization is structured, what capabilities it needs, where talent investments should be made, and how people, AI, and technology can work together differently in the future.

You'll also join an organization where the expectation isn't simply to recommend strategy. You'll have the opportunity to build it, execute it, measure it, and see the business impact of your work.
